Job Search Strategies

 

Staff work with clients on an individual basis or in-group settings as determined through the development of an individual Return to Work Action Plan. Self-help is encouraged whenever possible as clients work to overcome their barriers to employment.

 

The following services are available to clients that are involved in Job Search Activities:

  • Access to computer work stations and resource library.
  • Individual instruction on the computer and Internet.
  • Access to the local and national job banks.
  • Access to up-to-date labour market information.
  • Training and work related programs and services.
  • Resume writing programs and software packages.
  • Telephone, facsimile and photocopying services.
  • Assistance when identifying your attributes, interests, skills, barriers and goals.
  • Access to the computer for self assessment purposes.
  • One on one interaction with Employment Counsellors in preparation to participate in job interviews and networking with employers.
  • Development of portfolios that include resumes and cover letters or for up-dating and critiquing resumes and cover letters.
  • Development of communication skills for interview purposes either in person, over the telephone or the internet.

Job Creation Partnerships Employment Program;

  • Is an employment program of Human Resources and Social Development Canada designed to support projects that benefits community while creating jobs and providing meaningful work experience to individuals.
  • All interested sponsors/employers will be referred to Human Resources and Social Development Canada for the application process. 
  • Clients identifying an interest in the Job Creation Work Experience program are referred to the Job Creation Program once their eligibility had been confirmed and counsellors and client had identified this in a Return to Work Action Plan.
